Tom Ferry's memories of Gran Canaria!

Just back from Gran Canaria, it's just off the coast of Africa yet suprisingly met few Africans mostly Spanish and other Europeans . On my first Holiday abroad since 1989 we started each day with a plate of cornflakes, tea and a lovely bread roll and each evening we made a trip to a local restaurant where they had olive oil and use a lot of garlic. We went for a great trip up a mountain where 4 of us made it to the top, when we made our way back down we could see the aeroplanes flying below us , coming in to land at the airport. We were more than a mile above sea level!

We went to a strange restaurant that had stone chippings on the floor and lots of old things hanging around. It was great to get away from tourist areas and see the real Island!
