Solas Poetry and Art launch September 2010

Faíle romhat isteach!
We had a wonderful evening in Solas last Friday when we launched Brian Smeaton's colllection of poetry collection "walking through Trentagh and beyond in the caverns of the mind" Its 5 euro +p&P from the solas office if your interested with proceeds going to the Solas project. See http://solasdonegal.org/contact.html for info. it really was an emotional evening as Cormac Mac Ruaidhrí, the MC, introduced speakers such as Sean Gallagher longterm friend of Brians he said "maybe ex longterm friend" after his speech, although it was all lighthearted. One of Brians poem which he made reference too was how when Brian asked his wife Sandra where she was walking she replied " oh here and there" Sean added " good woman Sandra don't tell him anything!" There was music all the way from Westward ho! in North Devon from "bell and the boys" a wonderful group. Kerrykeel artist facilitated and introduced two Solas team members in the creation of some new pieces of Art Ciaran Traceys work was a journey from wellness through depression and out the other end and comprised of 8 paintings. Both his and Margo Quinns work and speeches were very affecting. Bhí oíche ar doigh ann and a great turnout. Thanks also to Ray Yeates for his excellent showcase and sneak preview for an invited Solas audience earlier this year "The Parting Glass" was an affecting triumph of a one man show.
